INTRODUCTION:

What is the Fibonacci Sequence?
                                                                               Who started it?

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

Essential Question 1:
Do you know of any artists who use math in their artwork?

Essential Question 2 :
How might science, math and art be related?

YOUR TASKS:

1)

You are going to become a Fibonacci detective and go on a Quest to uncover the mystery and secrets of the Fibonacci sequence.

Step by step you will find out who started it all, and explore the many ways that the Fibonacci sequence
is found in nature, art, music, architecture, and human anatomy.

Sometimes you will learn alone, and sometimes you will work in a small group.

At each step, you will post your findings and observations on the class' Fibonacci Blog.   In order to fully participate in this unit, you will also respond to fellow students on the blog.

You will receive an email  from me to register for this blog.  Sign up and get started!

2)  By completing all the components of this Webquest and lesson, you will investigate and explore patterns in music, math, science and nature as they relate to the Fibonacci Sequence and Golden Rectangle.  You will apply this knowledge to one of four final projects.
3)  Start your journey by learning about  Leonardo de Pisa, then click on all tabs until you reach the Conclusion page.
4)  At the end of the Webquest the class will review a Fibonacci Powerpoint presentation that explains the golden rectangle or golden ratio, and then break into groups to complete your final Task.

Your group will assign roles/jobs and complete a measuring experiment to demonstrate that you can apply the Fibonacci sequence and/or golden rectangle/ratio to the assignment.
